Talya Ressel has been working with individuals and families as a social worker and family therapist for the past 14 years families in both South Africa and England.
Talya works holistically with children, teens and parents, with a particular focus on dealing with anxiety and the impact on the well-being of the family system. Making use of her experience and skills, Talya is able to juggle the different needs that arise within the family and support each member to feel more connected, supported and valued.
Beyond private therapy sessions, Talya consults with various schools in Cape Town, runs therapeutic groups with children and parents and provides workshops for parents and educators on these topics.
Talya is also a well respected professional in the media platform– she has appeared regularly on radio and TV programmes such as Kfm, Cape Talk, Expresso and ENCA, as well as contributed many articles in a variety of print media.
Talya graduated with a BSocSci (Hons) in Social Work from the University of Cape Town, following by a PG(Cert) in Systemic Theory from the University of East London, UK (Tavistock Institute).
Talya also juggles the demands of being a wife and a mother, with two children. This ongoing balancing act has given her valuable insight into managing the highs, lows and mistakes that comes with the territory.
